Ready to learn about the next big thing for 2017? Microblading! We are sure you have heard the term Microblading used over and over this year when referring to eyebrows. Still unsure of what exactly it is? Let our licensed and certified Microblade tech take you through a walk through of exactly what this procedure is, and exactly what it can do for your brows!
The eyebrow evolution continues. Microblading is the latest innovative procedure geared towards giving you the most natural-looking, thick, and shapely brows of your life. Here’s everything you need to know about the new brow procedure taking the beauty world by storm.
Also called eyebrow embroidery, feathering, or etching, Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup solution that, thankfully, differs from the eyebrow tattoos we saw in past years. Whereas traditional eyebrow tattoos deposit a heavy layer of dark ink without taking into account a person’s natural brow shape, Microblading uses a very fine series of acupuncture needles to deposit pigment into the epidermis using the “hairstroke” technique. In other words: your brows won’t appear too dark or inky and the brows you have will seamlessly blend into your look to give you a natural appearance.
Once your appointment is scheduled you will receive all of the necessary before care. The day you meet with your technician, she will do a 20-30 minute consultation which includes discussing your brow goals, measuring and mapping out the shape and choosing the appropriate color. A numbing cream is then applied, making the procedure less painful than a typical wax. Once the numbing cream has taken effect you will lie down and the technician will begin etching in the outline of the brow. This outline is done to both brows and then pigment is placed on the brows to soak in for 5 minutes. The second pass is then done. This is where the technician will go back in and add in the detail strokes and finish up the Microblading. Pigment is again placed on the brows to ensure every stroke gets proper color saturation. The whole procedure takes anywhere from 2 to 2.5 hours and a follow up appointment is scheduled for 5-6 weeks out. This is where the tech will put back in any pigment lost in the healing process, and tweak any imperfections. Once you have had your second appointment, you should be good to go for 12-18 months! (Remember it is semi permanent. Microblading is an art and a science and is a fantastic low maintenance option to filling in and shaping your brow everyday!)
Microblading has become popular with beauty enthusiasts who want to give their brows some heft, but it’s also doing wonders for those who suffer from overplucking, alopecia, trigonometrical, or anyone undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
